What is the most important thing you do every day to drive your business?
One of our members from our Results Fitness University mentorship asked me this during their consultation call this past month and my answer was:

#1 – I ask myself, “What does my team need from me today to bring their best?” My #1 focus at this point is meeting with/supporting our team so that they have everything they need to service our clients. Once I have scheduled time to work with or meet with our team I can move on to #2.
#2 – How will I connect with our current members? It is easier to keep your current members happy than it is to always be chasing new ones. How can I connect with our members today and let them know I appreciate them and exceed their expectations.
Wake Up. Early. Successful people get up and get going early in the day. If you are in the ﬁtness business your day should be starting early. Plan. Fail to plan, plan to fail. You should take 10 minutes either at the beginning of each day or at the end of each day for the next day to plan out your day, thinking through whatever important projects you need to get done and what your priorities are for the day and the week. 10 minutes
Exercise. You must workout. You cannot be successful in this business if you do not live and breathe what you sell. We all know the importance of exercise. I find it is best to get it done first thing in the day so that nothing else can get in your way. Schedule your workout and do not make it optional. It is a mandatory part of a successful fitness business owner’s day. 1 hour
Marketing. Take an hour a day to look at your current marketing. Take a look at what is working and what isn’t working, then plan out your future marketing. Think ahead. Remember you always want to be proactive with your marketing, not reactive. You can use this time to write an article for your local magazine or to gather up before and after pictures and testimonials. Spend an hour everyday doing something to improve your marketing. 1 hour
Train Your Staff. Every single day you should spend at least one hour working with at least one person on your staff role playing or working on coaching techniques or exercise techniques. If you are on your own and don’t have your first employee yet, spend this time reading, listening to a tele-seminar or education yourself in some way. 1 hour
Administrative. Checking emails, returning phone calls, accounting and other bookkeeping stuff. This shouldn’t take up more than an hour of your time per day or your should be hiring someone to take over some of it. Do not spend valuable hours doing something someone else can do. I realize you need to check emails and need to return phone calls, but keep this stuff to a minimum and use your time to be productive. 1 hour
Training your clients: The rest of your workday should be spent out on the training floor talking to clients, working with members and either showing them you care or teaching them about something they could benefit from, etc. 4-5 hours
Read. Whether it is at the end of your day, beginning of your day or somewhere in between you should read an hour a day. Continue to learn and grow and you will be unstoppable as a business owner. 1 hour
Downtime. You must take time each day to decompress and check out. Go home and leave your work at work and take a break. This will lead to you being more productive the next day and feeling refreshed. If you do not take downtime you run the risk of burning yourself out. 1-2 hours
Sleep – 6-8 hours a night minimum to restore and recover to be at your optimal health and vitality every day to give your best!
Ask yourself every day, “Am I giving my absolute best today?”
Don’t waste a day of your life not giving your best.
