17 Random Thoughts

*You can’t change your business, your income, your life, your fitness or anything with the same mindset, habits and actions that got you here.
Stop doing what got you here and start doing what will take you to the next level. 

*You can’t get a six figure income by just doing more of what gave you a five figure income. You have to be different and do different things. Don’t fear change – embrace it and even chase it.

*Guard your time the same way you would guard your life. It’s all you have and can never be replaced.
When you realize that you only have 24 hours a day to grow your business, enjoy yourself, make money, rest and sharpen the saw – you’ll realize quickly that you’re always faced with a time challenge. I don’t think about negative stuff because I can’t throw my time (life) away on that.

*I read this in the book “S**t my Dad Says”. Don’t focus on the one obstacle or negative. That’s like going to the park and putting your picnic down next to the one pile of dog s**t”

*What’s your vision? Be clear about that – clarity is imperative. Then you can know whether what you’re doing is getting you closer to your vision or not. Most people don’t know what they want so instead focus all their spare time and energy on what they don’t want. Guess what happens then….

*It’s okay to say no to opportunities that don’t fit in with your vision. It’s not only okay – it’s vitally important to do so.

*When I think about how long we spent billing people for sessions and session packages it makes me mad. Life and business improved markedly when we switched to membership agreements

*Virgin America might be the best domestic airline I’ve ever flown. Worth the price difference

*I wish I’d have spent more time studying general population fitness than reading about athletic development and peaking. I’d have got better faster if I’d have been looking at the real world as opposed to the sports world.

*I truly believe and practice the principle of the slight edge. I just need one idea from a book or magazine article to make a difference. As a result I invest in everything in my field.

*Notice I said ‘invest’ not ‘buy’ or ‘spend’. They are negative words. You have to train yourself to use language that makes you act differently.

*I’ve had stage IV cancer twice. I almost died from it. It changed my attitude about everything. I hope people can learn from me and don’t have to go through something like that to get the same lessons.

*But even after cancer – I’m still like a little baby when I got the flu recently :)

*First thing to do every morning is read or listen to something positive. Your mind is like a garden – whatever you plant grows. Plant good stuff.

*If you are a trainer and don’t HAVE a trainer, then you don’t believe in what you do. You can defend it all you want but your actions tell a different story.

*Doctors used to smoke. There are clips on youtube of commercials about the cigarette doctors would choose. Makes you wonder what we’re going to look back on in 20 years that we’re doing today and thinking it’s ok right now.

*What did you learn today that you didn’t know yesterday?

– Have you thought about opening your own studio or going out on your own but you’re scared, don’t know the first step, or are afraid to fail?
 – Are you stuck in a rut, doing a job that you LOVE and would do for FREE, but can’t make the profit you deserve and have no way to take a vacation or any time off?
– Are you living session package to session package, hoping your next client shows up with a check to pay for his next package of sessions so you can pay your rent?
